Privacy Policy & Data Safety

Last updated August 24, 2026 · Published by Cuyahoga Valley Mindful Health and Wellness LLC (CVMHW)

FeelingsHelper is a free psychoeducational self-help web app. It is built so the sensitive things you write never leave the device you write them on. This page explains exactly what is stored, where it lives, what is never collected, and how to delete everything.

The short version

  • Everything you type — journal entries, worksheets, reflections, XP and level progress — is saved in your own browser using localStorage.
  • There is no account, no sign-up, no login, and no user database.
  • Your entries are never transmitted to FeelingsHelper, to Cuyahoga Valley Mindful Health and Wellness, or to any external server.
  • No Protected Health Information (PHI) is collected, transmitted, or stored by the application.
  • We do not sell, share, rent, or monetize anything you write. There is nothing on our side to sell.
  • Clearing your browser data deletes your entries permanently, and we cannot recover them because we never had them.

What is stored, and where

The app writes to localStorage — a small storage area belonging to your browser profile on your own device. Typical stored values include the text you enter into a companion or worksheet, the emotion labels and 0–10 distress ratings you select, your saved reflections, and gamification state such as experience points, levels, and unlocked badges. These values are readable only by feelingshelper.com in that browser, on that device. They are not synced between devices, not backed up by us, and not visible to us at any time.

What we do not collect

  • No names, birthdates, addresses, email addresses, or phone numbers are requested by the app.
  • No diagnoses, medications, treatment records, or clinical documentation are transmitted anywhere.
  • No advertising networks, no behavioral ad tracking, and no third-party profiling of the content you write.
  • No sale or disclosure of personal information to data brokers or marketers.

Children and COPPA alignment (Kids & Teens Mode)

Kids & Teens Mode is written for approximately ages 9–21 and is intended for parent-, caregiver-, educator-, or clinician-supervised use. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, because it does not collect personal information from anyone: there is no registration, no profile, no contact-information field, and no way for a child to publish or transmit anything. Because no personal information is collected, disclosed, or used to contact a child, the app is designed to stay outside the collection scope the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) regulates. Parents and guardians keep full control of anything stored on the device and can erase it at any time through browser settings. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through this site, contact us at CVMHW@proton.me and we will help you remove it.

HIPAA-aligned posture (and what that does and does not mean)

FeelingsHelper is a self-help and educational tool, not a clinical record system and not a patient portal. It does not create, receive, maintain, or transmit Protected Health Information on behalf of a covered entity, because entries stay on your device and are never sent to us. We describe this as a HIPAA-aligned posture: the design removes the covered data exchange rather than claiming a certification. No regulator, auditor, or certifying body has reviewed or certified this app, and using it does not create a treatment record. Clinical services provided separately by Cuyahoga Valley Mindful Health and Wellness LLC (CVMHW) are governed by that practice's own HIPAA notice, not by this page.

Cookies and similar technologies

The app relies on browser localStorage rather than tracking cookies. It does not run advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or fingerprinting scripts against the content of your worksheets. Standard web-server request logs (such as IP address and user agent) may be produced by the hosting provider for security and reliability, as they are for any website; those logs are not linked to your entries, because your entries never reach a server.

Deleting your data

  • Clear site data for feelingshelper.com in your browser settings (Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Site settings; Safari: Settings → Advanced → Website Data; Firefox: Settings → Privacy → Cookies and Site Data).
  • Using a private or incognito window means nothing persists after you close it.
  • On a shared or school device, clear site data when you finish so the next user cannot read your entries.
  • Deletion is permanent and immediate. We hold no copy to restore.

Security realities you should know

Because entries live in your browser, anyone with access to that unlocked device and browser profile can read them. Use a device passcode, avoid saving sensitive entries on shared computers, and clear site data on public machines. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, and we make no guarantee that a device you control cannot be accessed by someone else who controls it.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to outside resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, county crisis services, and https://www.cvmhw.com. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not govern them.

Changes to this policy

If the data practices described here ever change — for example, if an optional account or sync feature were added — this page will be updated with a new effective date before the change ships, and the summary at the top will state plainly what moved off your device.
