My Farmhouse Art & Magic Companion

Build a farm that tells your story. This free creative companion for ages 9–13 combines painting, movable stickers, seven clickable farm close-ups and a Magic mode with grown-up-approved AI studios: Feeling Creature Maker, Magic Wand Farm, Picture Detective, Coping Card Workshop and Creative Connection Chain. Designed with autistic, ADHD and trauma-affected children in mind, it offers choice, predictable steps, a Calm view and gentle rewards. It is creative self-help and psychoeducation, not a clinical service, diagnosis or PTSD treatment.

Seven places to explore — and zoom into

Sky & weather, farmhouse, barn & tools, growth garden, feeling animals, fence & gates and the quiet pond. Tap any place to open a close-up with its own guided prompt, drawing tools and themed sticker collection. Children decide what their drawings mean; no color, animal or comfort rating is interpreted as a diagnosis.

Rich art tools and a living farm

Paint with adjustable brushes, opacity and textures, then move, resize and rotate stickers. Optional reversible line smoothing keeps original strokes, while ocean and high-contrast palettes offer additional color choices. Undo, redo or use Clear all to start fresh. Living Farm adds gentle weather and animation that can be paused. Name your own feeling animals, save multiple farm projects on this device, download a PNG or print My Story.

Go inside the farmhouse or coping barn

Visible entry buttons open two creative interiors. Inside the farmhouse, children choose friendly people, comforting things or imagined places. Inside the barn, they explore coping tools, grounding and trusted supports, with practice available without AI. Optional AI painting uses the selected room area and its perspective to fit a creation into a frame, sofa, shelf or other designated spot. A grown-up approves every painting; children can replace or remove it, and older saved artwork is preserved.

Magic mode: five AI creation studios

Feeling Creature Maker turns a feeling into a friendly creature the child sizes and places. Magic Wand Farm imagines a farm that is "a little better" and finds one tiny next step. Picture Detective describes only what it can see — colors, shapes and where things are — and the child decides what it means. Coping Card Workshop builds a printable three-step card. Creative Connection Chain moves from movement to drawing to a short poem in the child’s own words. Choose-your-path stories, talk-to-my-animals and read-aloud are included too.

A grown-up approves every AI request

Nothing is sent to AI unless a trusted grown-up approves that specific request. Only the selected picture crop or the words the child chose are sent; names and saved farms are not. AI never interprets artwork, feelings, trauma or risk, and Picture Detective output is filtered to observable facts. Generated pictures, stories and cards are saved only on this device.

Autism-friendly, ADHD-friendly and sensory-safe

Guided mode offers a predictable sequence; Free Build lets a child choose their pace. One-click Focus Mode reduces surrounding panels so the spatial canvas stays central. Calm view reduces particles and automatic motion; atmosphere and soft pond audio stay optional and respect reduced-motion preferences. Short prompts, visual choices and read-aloud offer alternatives to writing. Activities can be explored in any order or skipped. Cosmetic badges and a farm-progress silhouette recognize visits and creation, never emotional disclosure; return-visit invitations are optional.

Child-authored branching stories and art transformations

Children select which reflections, farm elements, creatures, weather and tools to include in an approved story request, then choose what happens next one short part at a time. AI does not read the whole saved farm or infer its meaning. Optional style transformations show original and transformed art side by side so the child can compare and keep their own choices. Existing Magic studios, animal chat and creative tools remain available.

A narrow local pause before selected AI text is sent

A short local phrase check can pause an AI request involving selected words. Matched words are not logged or transmitted by that request, and drawing, coping practice and other non-AI activities remain available. This is not emotion detection, risk assessment or crisis monitoring. Before any AI request, last names, places, contact details, dates and health details are removed automatically on the device and again on the server; first names are kept. There is no voice-to-AI feature.

Trauma-informed without retelling trauma

The farm focuses on present-day comfort, support and choices, not recounting upsetting events. An imaginary farmhouse is welcome if a real home does not feel safe. Take a quiet pause or leave to the Kids Menu whenever you want. Adults are responsible for children’s safety, and unsafe touch, threats or unsafe secrets need trusted-adult support.

Learning library and grown-up notes

Learn explains farm ideas and Magic studios in child-friendly language. Caregiver guidance and reviewable source material connect the activities to established expressive and coping practices without interpreting a child’s art. Private grown-up notes stay local and are excluded from the confirmed session-summary export. Nothing automatically becomes a clinical record or is sent to a clinician; this companion does not replace professional care.

Living Farm, seasons, helpers and a storybook

Gentle on-device motion, weather, time of day and four seasons make the farm feel alive without AI. Friendly farm helpers describe what children made, tapping stickers makes them hop, shapes, stamps and collage tools add new ways to build, and optional synthesized farm sounds stay off until chosen. Children can turn farm pages into a 4–6 page storybook they write themselves. Calm view and reduced-motion settings turn automatic motion off.

Ideas for every farm place, in the child’s own words

Each close-up offers suggestion chips plus a type-box for the child’s own idea. Children can draw an idea themselves or, with a grown-up’s approval for that one painting, have it painted into the visible area while older artwork is preserved. Calmer or sillier suggestion tones are available.

Grown-up privacy notice, consent and a clinician AI lock

The first time the companion opens on a device, a short children’s privacy notice and grown-up consent screen appear. Choosing “Not now” keeps drawing, stickers and coping practice available without AI. The companion is designed for supervised use with an adult present; it is not a clinical record and AI output is never an assessment. A clinician can lock AI off for the device: every AI option is hidden and no AI request can be sent until a grown-up deliberately unlocks it. Clinics covered by HIPAA should keep AI locked off unless they have a Business Associate Agreement with the AI provider. Clinician note: this tool supports, and never replaces, clinical judgment; nothing is saved to records unless a clinician chooses to.

Saved on this device, not in an account

Saved drawings, stickers, reflections, progress and project metadata use localStorage; image blobs use this browser’s IndexedDB, with a localStorage fallback. Older saves are loaded before changes can overwrite them. No name or account is required, and there is no cloud gallery or default sharing. Optional AI still sends only approved request-selected content for processing, so device-local saving does not mean AI use is offline. Anyone using the same browser may see saved farms; a confirmed “Start fresh” button clears the farm, rooms and gallery on this device. Clear all resets the active artwork, confirmed gallery deletion removes a saved project, and clearing site data removes browser saves; downloads and printouts are separate.

Common questions

What is My Farmhouse Art & Magic Companion?
A free farm-themed creative activity for ages 9–13. Children paint, place stickers, zoom into seven farm places and use five grown-up-approved AI Magic studios to make feeling creatures, coping cards, stories and more.
What are the professional-care boundaries of this companion?
My Farmhouse Art & Magic Companion is an educational creativity and coping-skills activity, not a clinical service. It does not perform the duties of a therapist or provide psychotherapy, assessment, diagnosis, trauma processing or treatment planning. It is not equivalent to, or a substitute for, in-person or virtual care from a qualified licensed professional. AI creates optional pictures and stories, not professional clinical judgment.
How does the AI Magic mode work?
Each AI request needs a trusted grown-up’s approval first. Only the selected picture crop or chosen words are sent. AI can make creature pictures, stories, coping cards and observable-only picture descriptions. It never interprets art, feelings, diagnoses or risk.
What is Picture Detective?
A studio that slows down and describes what is visible in a drawing — colors, shapes and where things are — like a detective. It never says what the picture means; the child decides that.
Can autistic or ADHD children use the farm?
Yes. Guided and Free Build modes, Calm view, visual choices, read-aloud and optional writing support different ways to participate. These design choices do not make the farm a treatment for autism or ADHD.
Do children have to explain upsetting experiences?
No. Prompts focus on present-day feelings, imaginary comfort, coping and support. Children choose what their artwork means and can leave at any time.
Do I need drawing skills or art supplies?
No. Use built-in brushes, textures and movable stickers on a phone, tablet or computer. There is no right or wrong picture.
Where is my child’s artwork saved?
Saved artwork stays on this device: image blobs use IndexedDB and drawings, reflections and project metadata use localStorage, with a localStorage image fallback. These are browser storage, not cookies. No account or cloud gallery is required. Optional approved AI requests send only selected content for processing. Clear all resets active artwork; delete saved projects separately or clear site data to remove browser saves.
Can we download the picture or print the story?
Yes. Download a PNG, print My Story or print coping cards. A grown-up confirms what is included. Nothing is automatically sent to a therapist, school or anyone else.
What if an activity feels overwhelming?
Skip it, switch on Calm view, take a quiet pause or leave to the Kids Menu. Ask a trusted grown-up for support, and use emergency help if someone is in immediate danger.
How do children enter the farmhouse and coping barn?
Use the visible entry buttons on the farm. The farmhouse offers comforting people, things and imagined places; the barn offers coping skills and trusted supports. AI pictures are painted into a selected room area with fresh grown-up approval each time. Coping practice works without AI.
What is the difference between Focus Mode and Calm view?
Focus Mode reduces surrounding panels to center the drawing space. Calm view reduces particles and automatic motion. Both are optional; children can also choose ocean or high-contrast palettes and reversible line smoothing.
What information is used in an AI farm story?
Only the words and farm ingredients selected for that approved request, such as a reflection, creature, weather or tool. Children choose the next story branch and remain the authors; AI does not interpret the artwork or automatically read the entire saved farm.
Can children compare original and AI-transformed artwork?
Yes. Optional grown-up-approved style transformations show the original and transformed art side by side. Children can compare the pictures without losing their original choices.
Does the local AI text pause assess a child’s safety?
No. It checks a short phrase list only in text selected for an AI request and can pause that request without logging or transmitting matched text. Non-AI activities continue. It is not diagnosis, risk assessment or crisis monitoring, and there is no voice-to-AI feature.
Are badges or exports tied to sharing feelings?
No. Cosmetic badges recognize exploration and creation, not emotional disclosure. Return prompts are skippable. Session-summary exports require confirmation and exclude private grown-up notes; there are no default share links, cloud galleries or automatic clinical records.
Can a clinic turn AI off completely?
Yes. The “Clinician: lock AI off” button, or the shortcut in the first-time consent screen, hides every AI option on that device and blocks every AI request, even after a reload. Drawing, stickers, the farmhouse, the barn, Living Farm and coping practice keep working. A clinician types their professional credential to turn AI back on. HIPAA-covered clinics should keep it locked unless they have a Business Associate Agreement.
Is there a consent screen before AI is used?
Yes. A plain children’s privacy notice and grown-up consent screen appear the first time on each device. AI stays unavailable until a parent, guardian or supervising clinician agrees, and each AI request still needs its own approval. The companion is for supervised use with an adult present.
Are names and private details removed before AI?
Yes, automatically on the device and again on the server. First names are kept; last names, places, schools, contact details, dates and health details are removed. This reduces private details but may not catch everything, and drawings are not scanned, so children should not put names or faces in pictures sent to AI.
Does the farm move and change without AI?
Yes. Living Farm motion, weather, seasons, time of day, sticker reactions, helpers, stamps, shapes, collage, optional sounds and the storybook all run on the device for free. Calm view turns automatic motion off.
How do we clear the farm on a shared device?
Use the confirmed “Start fresh” button. It clears the farm, rooms and gallery saved in this browser. Download anything you want to keep first.
